There is no shortage of books or lectures on how to write scenes, construct plots, or employ a classic story form. Mur Lafferty speaks brilliantly to those points when asked, but she does something far more precious and uncommon. Mur talks about writing as the greater pursuit, the purpose, the business, and the state of the human condition.

Mur Lafferty frankly and unflinchingly shares the uncertainties, the insecurities, and triumphs of the writer's vocation. She honestly examines her own experiences, frustrations, and neuroses that all of us have but so many are reluctant to face. Mur shows us how brilliant and rich the treasures are to be found while acknowledging the battle scars one sustains in refining one's craft. Inexplicably, the picture which emerges is like a roadmap showing the goal is not only knowable, but achievable.

Ms. Lafferty has inspired, guided, and encouraged a legion of new and aspiring writers through her highly-regarded podcasts, articles, and blogs. Her audiences come to know that writing may be formidable, but it is knowable and therefore doable. Most of all, her listeners leave knowing they as well as anyone can be successful writers, and--if they want to--they should be writing.
