Don't get me wrong, I truly do admire teachers. But a lot of the writing "rules" they drilled into our heads were better suited to impressing college deans than communicating clearly out in the real world. So if you want to connect with your readers and make sure your message gets across, it's time to break free of the bad habits they created.
